A Taste of the City
Tokyo has an exciting food scene with a culinary experience that's both traditional and innovative
Their most well known dish would be ramen, a nice savory broth with hand pulled noodle and veggies.
When visiting, you'll find that the ingredients vary based on region such as Hokkaido is known for
their miso ramen while Osaka is known for their creatie and modern ramen styles. Another staple that can
be enjoyed anywhere in the world is sushi. Different types of fresh fish paired perfectly with rice, seaweed,
ginger and so much more. It is a dish that is light yet refreshing.
Outside of the dishes that Japan is popular for, I want to try the lesser known street foods such as dorayaki.
Dorayaki is a traditioanl japanese conffection that consist of two fluffy pancakes-like patties filled with a sweet
red bean paste called anko. It is a popular treat that is beloved by all ages and is often asociated with Doraemon
which is a popular manga character. Another dish to check out is Okonomiyaki, which has similiarities to dorayaki.
It is a savory pancake made from a batter of flour, eggs, and shredded cabage. It is usually mixed with different ingredients
such as seafood, meat, and veggies. The ingredients can vary depending on the region you're in. Below you can find a
video that shows how dorayaki is made.
